—Pinkio
Pinkio is a skilled Rolling Sky Player and Content Creator from Guatemala. He has gotten attention on YouTube for the creation of creative content in the Rolling Sky Content Creator Community, and is also known in Rolling Lounge.
YouTube
Pinkio created a YouTube Channel in July 4th, 2015, though it is unknown why or how the channel existed back then. The first video was uploaded until February 1st, 2018 featuring a game called "Neo-Sonic"[1] which were then followed by more videos with Sonic games as topic. His first Rolling Sky video was uploaded 1 year and 8 months later (on October 12th, 2019) and it featured the perfect completion of the level "E-Labyrinth".[2]
Pinkio maintains an active YouTube Channel, where he uploads unique videos of experiments, lists, music montages, updates & other features about Rolling Sky. He managed to get to 3,980 subscribers (as of September 2024), being one of the most popular Rolling Sky Content Creators on YouTube. He ocasionally uploads videos about other videogames he likes, but he usually turns notifications off on them to not disturb the normal flow of the Rolling Sky videos. He has also uploaded videos about Dancing Line and Piano Tiles 2, two other popular Cheetah Mobile games that he has played a lot too.
External Camera Recording Style
A notable trait of Pinkio was the unique recording type which didn't feature a screen recording of the gameplay, but a video of the screen of his phone taken with an external camera. This recording style is still kept until today and the reasons for this style were explained in a separate video.[3]
Most of his videos about mobile games feature this trait. Some of them even use the external audio, but he usually mutes it and manually replaces it with music placed over the video depending on the level or event he's playing.
The main reason why he chose to record his videos with this method are because, when he started recording Rolling Sky videos, his phone wasn't powerful enough to handle an internal recording app, so he used to borrow his older brother's phone to record. Most of the time he has recorded on the dining room of his house using a bread container and empty medicine boxes to hold a phone that works as a camera which faces down, and below on the table he uses another phone where he plays the game. Even though Pinkio has got better phones by now, he got used to this recording method since then and still uses it, using other objects to hold the phone in the case he records in other places.
Another reason why he uses this recording method is to show his hands' movements while he plays, so it would be easier to understand which movements he does at any part of the gameplay. This was inspired by some of SHAvibe's videos of Rolling Sky and the Glory YT's videos of Piano Tiles 2. He had considered recording both internal and external footage, but he prefers to keep only the external footage so any kind of text he adds will fit better at the sides on his videos.
Playlists // Content Categories
The content that Pinkio uploads on YouTube varies a lot as he uploads anything that he thinks it's fun to watch or worth recording, but asides from these experimental videos, he also often uploads some specific categories of videos. The following is a table with all the Pinkio's YouTube playlists about his Rolling Sky videos or other related games.
| Playlist | Description |
|---|---|
| Top-Level Lists | Lists that order the levels according to which of them fits better on certain topics, like emotional or underrated levels. It was initially inspired on Phuong Nguyen's Top 5 videos, and most of these are based on Pinkio's personal opinions, the community's opinions and some other data. |
| Evolution Lists | These lists are like the Top-Level ones, but instead of the levels being ordered from "Worst to Best", they are ordered in chronological order (from "Oldest to Newest"). These videos tend to have more levels included on them due to the fact all of the levels from that topic are included there, not just the best ones. |
| RS Fanmades | Contains all the videos about content created by the community, at least refering to levels & other creations. All of Pinkio's custom levels are included here. Check below on this article for a table that describes all of the levels he has created. |
| RS Montages | These videos show a variety of levels' footages (at least two levels) put together to fit a certain music or song. These are intended to be musical videos including any random song that Pinkio likes, mostly using soundtracks from his favorite video games. They were initially inspired on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's montages and related, specially considering he also uploaded a low-quality meme one about the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie back on March 2019. |
| Rolling Sky Updates (2016 - 2020) | A series of videos where Pinkio plays every single major Rolling Sky update but 5 years after they were originally released, starting from version 1.2.8 (September 2016) which added the level Tetris (which was known as "XIII" due to the levels using roman numbers as their names in the past). The main purpose of this series is to archive all the important updates that Rolling Sky had throughout its development up until Monster City, which was the last level before the developers temporally stopped working on the game. As every video of this series is intended to be uploaded 5 years after a new level was released, the order of the years to be uploaded on this series is the following:
Click here for a list of all the Rolling Sky levels with its release date (Image Credit: TechNewVideo), and here for a summary of every new level's update (which also includes release dates but with the app icons and the update numbers in the description of the video). |
| Rolling Sky Yearly Content | These are playlists that includes all the Rolling Sky-related videos that Pinkio uploaded on every year. These playlists are the following:
|
| Pinkio's Story with Rolling Sky | A series of videos where Pinkio narrates every relevant thing he has lived with the Rolling Sky game, covering events that had influence on it since even before he found about the game's existence. This series started as part of his 18th birthday celebration and all the videos covering up to 2021 were published on July 2022 for the same reason, and he plans to post the same kind of videos covering the future years when they end, as long as he's still actively posting videos on YouTube. |
| World Records | Everything about Pinkio's World Records with Rolling Sky and other high scores is included here. Rolling Sky used to have individual leaderboards for most levels on which, if you got a perfect run, you could beat the level many consecutive times again and you would get one star per every time you beat the level, but you would lose all your stars at the moment you lost by crashing or falling from the level (Shields & Floaters can be used to avoid this happening). While you can still get stars, the online rankings were closed around January 28th, 2022 and it is unknown if they will come back, or when. The most notable World Records from Pinkio are the following:
|
| Español Vídeos | Rodando Cielo | These are Rolling Sky videos that were either made or translated to the Spanish language. This was initially done to attract spanish public because Pinkio's native language is Latin American Spanish, as he's from Guatemala and English is his second language. Some other videos about single level completions might even have their title & description translated to Japanese & Chinese (Traditional). For the most part, he stopped translating the videos to Spanish & other languages because it takes too much time & work for him to do. |
The following ones are the most relevant playlists that might not be related directly with Rolling Sky.
| Playlist | Description |
|---|---|
| Challenges/Achievements | Most of the hardest challenges or highest scores that Pinkio has gotten on any videogame are included here. Pinkio recognizes he isn't a Top Professional on any game, but he also knows his skill ceiling is often a lot higher than the average. He considers that his most unique achievement is beating the first level of both Geometry Dash and Rolling Sky at the same time, also getting all the coins on GD and a perfect run on RS. |
| Pinkio's Hall-Of-Fame | This is practically a mix-up of Pinkio's most relevant videos, and his favorites from the ones he has uploaded. The playlist is quite long for its title and it includes a large variety of games on it. |
| Bugs/Glitches | It contains videos that shows bugs, glitches, errors & malfunctions that he has found on any kind of video games. |
| Dancing Line Stuff | Content about Dancing Line is shared here. Although he played a bit of the game on 2019 and 2020, he didn't seriously get into it until January 2021, when he uploaded a gameplay of The Beginning. He later was able to play more when he got a better phone. He completed The Chinese Garden on March 11st, 2021, and The Racing on April 1st, 2022. |
| Piano Tiles 2 Stuff | Content about Piano Tiles 2. Since this was another of Cheetah Mobile's games, it's how Pinkio found about Rolling Sky back on August 2016. He played this game the most on 2019, and he changed his gamestyle from thumbs to 4-fingers around September from that year. |
| Geometry Dash Stuff | Videos where Pinkio plays any level from Geometry Dash. He started playing on January 2015. His in-game user is Pinkio[4] and has uploaded some levels, most of them being low quality ones made just for fun, and his most notable one being "Soccer", which is based on the football team "FC Barcelona" and the level has over 13k downloads and 600+ likes as of June 2023.[5] |
| Sonic The Hedgehog - Fangames & Stuff | Contains videos about Sonic The Hedgehog™ games & fangames. He's fond of Sonic Robo Blast 2, a fangame that he plays since around 2008, joining online multiplayer on late 2016, and on 2017 his netgames friends brought him to Discord & made him interested on joining more gaming communities in general.[6] |
| Earthbound // Mother - Full Story Summary | A series of gameplays about the Earthbound saga, which are some of Pinkio's favorite games. These videos are unique because they cut all the extra content that doesn't deal with the game's lore to make the videos shorter so viewers can watch its gameplay on way less time, removing around 2/3 of the length that it would take to complete the games by normal means. A spanish gameplay version was also intended to be made but it's uncomplete because it lacks the gameplay of Mother 3. |
| Random Games Stuff | Content about other games that don't fit on the previous playlists are often shared here. The most notable videos on this list are the Steve Minecraft doing Fortnite Default Dance but it's Despacito and Hidden JoJo-Reference in Terraria videos, both of them intended to be memes which unintentionally became the most viewed videos on his channel during some time between 2019 and 2020 respectively.[7] |
| Pinkio's 18th Birthday Celebration | This was made to celebrate Pinkio's 18th birthday, which was on July 3rd, 2022. To celebrate it, he uploaded a total of 9 videos from 9 of his favorite videogames (or related), all in the same day. The last video of the day was the start of the "Pinkio's Story with Rolling Sky" series, which was also made throughout July 2022 (covering up until the year 2021) as part of the celebration. He considers it was one of the most important days of his life, both before and after the day passed. |

| Auto Level | The intention of this level was to replicate the idea of the "Auto" levels from Geometry Dash, which are levels that beat themselves without having to touch the screen or do any movement at all. | GreenFlower Zone | Inspired on the Sonic Robo Blast 2 zone under the same name (on the older versions of SRB2).

| ¿Qué mirás bobo? | A joke level based on an infamous quote by argentinian player Lionel Messi on an interview after the polemic 'Netherlads 2 (3) - (4) 2 Argentina' match for the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, with the match being on December 9th, 2022. The level uses a meme song based on the phrase. The level's video was published on December 18th, 2022 as a celebration for Argentina winning the third FIFA World Cup on their history. | December 18th, 2022. | v0.2 Beta | El cuarteto de Messi: "¿Qué mirás bobo?" [Lucas Requena] |
| Rigit Obstacles | A level inspired on World 5-1 from the game Mario Forever, a popular Super Mario fangame that first appeared on 2003 and was last updated on 2017. | Harlem Shake | A joke level based on the Harlem Shake, a popular meme trend from 2013. The intense build-up of obstacles at the scene change of the level is a reference to how the trend was performed. | February 10th, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | Baauer - Harlem Shake |
| Rickroll | Based on the rickroll meme, which consists on the unexpected appearance of the music video for the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley from 1987. While the level and the video were posted as a prank, it was published on Valentine's Day due to the fact the original song talks about romance. | February 14th, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Remix by Krysiek) |
| Titanic Monarch Zone | Based on Titanic Monarch Zone Act 1 from Sonic Mania™, a Sonic The Hedgehog™ video game from 2017. The level is the last zone from said game. The level itself is short, but fast and requires a lot of memorization, specially with the multiple glass tiles where the player needs to drop very specific ones to beat the level or get all the gems & crowns. | March 4th, 2023. | v0.2 Beta | Sonic Mania - Titanic Monarch Zone (TC Remix) |
| Amogus | Joke level about the Amogus meme. It presents many floor layouts that represent the design of Among Us characters. At 57-65% the word "AMOGUS" can be seen, and the word "SUS" is seen at 80-84%. | April 14th, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | Amogus (EDM Remix by Memncius) |
| Twoson | Based on the second town from the SNES RPG game "EarthBound". The orange-ish color is reminiscent of the town's ambience. | Muchachos (English Cover) | Inspired on the fan song "Muchachos" used to cheering Argentina on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. | I'm Here | The music used on this level is a remix of the song "I'm Here", which is the main theme song for the game Sonic Frontiers (2022). The remix was done by Laser Soul. The release date of the video was chosen due to the coincidental closeness of their birthday dates (Laser Soul is from June 30th and Pinkio from July 3rd, the two being born on 2004). | July 3rd, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | I'm Here (Laser Soul Remix) |
| Pinkio 3K Subs - Celebration Level | A celebration level done as a special for Pinkio's YouTube channel reaching 3,000 subscribers. | ANOTHER HIM | Easy level released as a halloween special. The darkened aesthetic is reminiscent of the vessel creation scene on the first chapter of Deltarune, which was released on the same date but 5 years earlier, on 2018. | October 31st, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | ANOTHER HIM (In-Game version) |
| Dear Nostalgists | Based on the Geometry Dash custom level with the same name. The release date of the level was chosen to commemorate a full decade (10 years) since the death of Pinkio's father. The level difficulty was attempted to match the same as the one from the original Geometry Dash level (which is called "Easy Demon" on the game), & it was partially done as well with the theme changes matching the level design & gamemode styles. | November 5th, 2023. | v0.3 Beta | Bossfight - Okiba Crackdown |
| Christmas Is Here | The first level done by Pinkio on version 1.0r for Rolling Sky Remake, released as a christmas special. It's inspired on the fanmade level 'Christmas Celebrations v2', specially on the gameplay uploaded by Axel Luke that uses the same music as used on this level. This is currently Pinkio's hardest level, considered the only one to reach the 6-Stars difficulty rating. Pinkio also consider this one to be the best level ever created by himself. | December 24th, 2023. | v1.2.6r | Nightcore - Christmas Is Here (Walker The Neptune VII Remix) |
| Sci-Tech Jumpscare (TDoTD Version) | A joke level about the Rolling Sky community inside-meme that consists on surprising people with the Sci-Tech level footage. At 95%, there's a hidden reference to the "21 UNO CARDS (warning: sensitive language)" community meme, as a cannon hits a poker card and the order of the glass tiles is 2-1-2-1-2. The level itself re-creates the start of the official level "The Day of the Dead", & also uses a modified version of Sci-Tech, which is mostly mirrored. | February 10th, 2024. | v1.2.9r | Rolling Sky - Level 60 The Day of the Dead | Rolling Sky - Level 7 Sci-Tech |
| 😱 "You miss the gem!!" but it's playable | A joke level derivated from a recurring comment ("you miss the gem") seen on the RS' gameplay videos where the player doesn't obtain all the gems or crowns on a level. As a result, all the collectibles on this level are unobtainable. The level was created on the beta version of Rolling Sky Remake & got published as an April Fools special. | April 1st, 2024. | v0.3b Beta | Undertale - sans. |
Discord
Pinkio joined the server in the Rolling Sky Discord era in January 31st of 2019. After some periods of activity and inactivity, he had managed to get the Scarab [40+] level role[10] and also a place in the server's community, known by many (also helped through the Content Creation on YouTube). On April 21st of 2021, Pinkio was promoted to Jr. Staff in the server after a successful staff application, taking the roles of Moderation and Configuration in the server until December 31st of 2021, when he was demoted of the staff team due to lack of time for moderation.[11] On March 24th of 2024, Pinkio reached the personal milestone of 10,000 RT (Rolling Tokens) after 3 years of work, which he used to buy the 'YouTube Notification' from the server shop, a function from the MEE6 bot that automatically posts all his YouTube videos to the server's "#videos" channel. [12] Most of the time he uses his computer, he leaves Discord open and talks on Rolling Lounge at random times.

Trivia
- The username "Pinkio" wasn't supposed to have a meaning. It gives the impression of being related to the color "Pink", and Pinkio also jokes with that, including making a joke video for April Fools 2022 where he also explained the backstory of his username.
- His older brother, known as "Aneliomo" or "Norjajetu", was the one who came up with the user name "Super Pinkio" to create Pinkio's Club Penguin™ account, as he joined on Saturday, April 24th 2010 and his brother joined the game a day before. Pinkio also uploaded a photo album with a lot of screenshots from the Club Penguin™ game where the mentioned user name can be seen.
- The main smartphone that Pinkio used to play Rolling Sky was a ZTE Z820 Obsidian, and it was the phone where he initially played while recording and where he got all of his high star streaks. However, the phone started to present some failures, including a "0 bytes left of storage" bug, and the phone deceased to work on August 2021[13]. This caused him to lose all of his Rolling Sky data, having to play on a Wiko C210AE in the meanwhile. During 2021-2023, he used a Xiaomi Redmi 9C [M2006C3MG], which also shown some failures but got solved with a factory reset (March 2023)[14]. Many months later (December 2023), it got gifted to his younger sister in favor for Pinkio to buy a newer one. His current phones are a OnePlus Nord N10 5G [BE2029] and a Motorola Moto E22 [MOTOE22BCO], both of them working for either playing or recording the gameplay footage depending on which phone will be used for the gameplay of a video; however, most of the time, the game gets played on the OnePlus phone, and the Motorola gets used for the camera to record the gameplay footage.
- Pinkio still owns his Wiko C210AE phone, as shown on his A Dream of 7 Years' gameplay with 'internal footage + handcam recording gameplay, but it is very rarely used for video production. Another use for this phone was on the Auspicious Jade Rabbit's Perfect Way + Firework Route gameplay, on which he also recorded what is considered to be "his worst ever fail on Rolling Sky: AJR 98%". The 'alternate handcam' on the video gameplays for both levels was recorded with this phone.
- His current most popular video: "Can You Beat Rolling Sky Without Getting Gems?", was posted while Pinkio was in a virtual class. This video wasn't planned to be posted at the moment it was published (on March 12th, 2021), and Pinkio has joked saying that it was "the best accident of his life". The video has 73,657 views as of September 9th, 2024.
- At minute 12:27 of the video, a footage of the level Skeleton Party is shown, where Pinkio accidentally got a gem at 1% without noticing. This part of the video became infamous and it triggered a lot of comments mentioning it, and Pinkio had to explain that 'the gem is avoidable at the sides'. Eventually, he pinned a comment made by AZMindroma that explains this, and nowadays he recalls this mistake as a "funny accident".
