—Pinkio

Pinkio is a skilled Rolling Sky Player and Content Creator from Guatemala. He has gotten attention on YouTube for the creation of creative content in the Rolling Sky Content Creator Community, and is also known in Rolling Lounge.

YouTube

Pinkio created a YouTube Channel in July 4th, 2015, though it is unknown why or how did the channel exist back then. The first video was uploaded until February 1st, 2018 featuring a game called "Neo-Sonic"[1] which were then followed by more videos with Sonic games as topic. His first Rolling Sky video was uploaded 1 year and 8 months later (on October 12th, 2019) and it featured the perfect completion of the level "E-Labyrinth".[2]

Pinkio maintains an active YouTube Channel, where he uploads unique videos of experiments, lists, music montages, updates & other features about Rolling Sky. He managed to get to 2800 subscribers (as of June 2023), being one of the most popular Rolling Sky Content Creators on YouTube. He ocasionally uploads videos about other videogames he likes, but he usually turns notifications off on them to not disturb the normal flow of the Rolling Sky videos. He has also uploaded videos about Dancing Line and Piano Tiles 2, two other popular Cheetah Mobile games that he has played a lot too.

External Camera Recording Style

A notable trait of Pinkio was the unique recording type which didn't feature a screen recording of the gameplay, but a video of the screen of his phone taken with an external camera. This recording style is still kept until today and the reasons for this style were explained in a separate video.[3]

Most of his videos about mobile games feature this trait. Some of them even use the external audio, but he usually mutes it and manually replaces it with music placed over the video depending on the level or event he's playing.

The main reason why he chose to record his videos with this method are because, when he started recording Rolling Sky videos, his phone wasn't powerful enough to handle an internal recording app. Most of the time he has recorded on the dining room of his house using a bread container and empty medicine boxes to hold a phone that works as a camera which faces down, and below on the table he uses another phone where he plays the game. Even though Pinkio has got better phones by now, he got used to this recording method since then and still uses it, using other objects to hold the phone in the case he records in other places.

Another reason why he uses this recording method is to show his hands' movements while he plays, so it would be easier to understand which movements he does at any part of the gameplay. This was inspired by some of SHAvibe's videos of Rolling Sky and the Glory YT's videos of Piano Tiles 2. He had considered recording both internal and external footage, but he prefers to keep only the external footage so any kind of text he adds will fit better at the sides on his videos.

Playlists // Content Categories

The content that Pinkio uploads on YouTube varies a lot as he uploads anything that he thinks it's fun to watch or worth recording, but asides from these experimental videos, he also often uploads some specific categories of videos. The following is a table with all the Pinkio's YouTube playlists about his Rolling Sky videos or other related games.

Playlist Description
Top-Level Lists Lists that order the levels according to which of them fits better on certain topics, like emotional or underrated levels. It was initially inspired on Phuong Nguyen's Top 5 videos, and most of these are based on Pinkio's personal opinions, the community's opinions and some other data.
Evolution Lists These lists are like the Top-Level ones, but instead of the levels being ordered from "Worst to Best", they are ordered in chronological order (from "Oldest to Newest"). These videos tend to have more levels included on them due to the fact all of the levels from that topic are included there, not just the best ones.
RS Fanmades Contains all the videos about content created by the community, at least refering to levels & other creations. All of Pinkio's custom levels are included here. Check below on this article for a table that describes all of the levels he has created.
RS Montages These videos show a variety of levels' footages (at least two levels) put together to fit a certain music or song. These are intended to be musical videos including any random song that Pinkio likes, mostly using soundtracks from his favorite video games. They were initially inspired on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's montages and related, specially considering he also uploaded a low-quality meme one about the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie back on March 2019.
Rolling Sky Updates (2016 - 2020) A series of videos where Pinkio plays every single major Rolling Sky update but 5 years after they were originally released, starting from version 1.2.8 (September 2016) which added the level Tetris (which was known as "XIII" due to the levels using roman numbers as their names in the past). The main purpose of this series is to archive all the important updates that Rolling Sky had throughout its development up until Monster City, which was the last level before the developers temporally stopped working on the game. As every video of this series is intended to be uploaded 5 years after a new level was released, the order of the years to be uploaded on this series is the following:
  • 2021 = 2016.
  • 2022 = 2017.
  • 2023 = 2018.
  • 2024 = 2019.
  • 2025 = 2020.

Rolling Sky Yearly Content These are playlists that includes all the Rolling Sky-related videos that Pinkio uploaded on every year. These playlists are the following:

The following ones are the most relevant playlists that might not be related directly with Rolling Sky.

Playlist Description
Challenges/Achievements Most of the hardest challenges or highest scores that Pinkio has gotten on any videogame are included here. Pinkio recognizes he isn't a Top Professional on any game, but he also knows his skill ceiling is often a lot higher than the average. He considers that his most unique achievement is beating the first level of both Geometry Dash and Rolling Sky at the same time, also getting all the coins on GD and a perfect run on RS.
Pinkio's Hall-Of-Fame This is practically a mix-up of Pinkio's most relevant videos, and his favorites from the ones he has uploaded. The playlist is quite long for its title and it includes a large variety of games on it.
Bugs/Glitches It contains videos that shows bugs, glitches, errors & malfunctions that he has found on any kind of video games.
Sonic The Hedgehog - Fangames & Stuff Contains videos about Sonic The Hedgehog™ games & fangames. He's fond of Sonic Robo Blast 2, a fangame that he plays since around 2008, joining online multiplayer on late 2016, and on 2017 his netgames friends brought him to Discord & made him interested on joining more gaming communities in general.[4]

Discord

Pinkio joined the server in the Rolling Sky Discord era in January 31st of 2019. After some periods of activity and inactivity, he had managed to get the Scarab [40+] level role[5] and also a place in the server's community, known by many (also helped through the Content Creation on YouTube). On April 21st of 2021, Pinkio was promoted to Jr. Staff in the server after a successful staff application, taking the roles of Moderation and Configuration in the server until December 31st of 2021, when he was demoted of the staff team due to lack of time for moderation.[6] Most of the time he uses his computer, he leaves Discord open and talks on Rolling Lounge at random times.

Football Field

He is the World Record holder of getting 1000 stars on the 2 star level "Football Field". A footage of him getting 1k stars in this level was uploaded on YouTube and got decent attention with 1.7k views (Last update: November 21st, 2021) and a lot of congratulations by the community. In all of Rolling Sky, he is the first person who legitimally got to 1k stars in any level at all, making this World Record a very significant one.[7]

Championship

Another World Record was held on the 2 star level "Championship", on which he managed to get a maximum of 53 consecutive playthroughs. This was classified as the "Easiest World Record Ever" by him.[8]

Anniversary

This World Record was considered the "Fastest", as it only required 7 stars to do so. This wasn't considered much of an achievement though and was done just for fun.[9]
