Context

The first idea of boycotting Rolling Sky (developers) first came in late 2019, where users had the feeling that Rolling Sky developers were not listening to the community at all and due to the recent decrease in level quality, there was a sort of boycott happening in that time. This however was followed with Rolling Sky being removed from the Google Play Store and then its death.

Rolling Sky's death was never publicly announced in some way, so the players had still waited for a new update after Monster City's release, although doubted by some. This is why after a few weeks people kept asking where the next level (Bonus 38) would be and the questions kept stacking on top of each other. AZMindroma had identified the great demand for the new Rolling Sky level and due to this inspiration, L E V E L W A V E was started.

Organization

The project was organized fully by AZMindroma. This project featured multiple "waves", sections of community submissions that had different contents.

Wave 1 was the most important wave and lasted from August 20th, 2020 to August 24th, 2020. The mission of this wave was of the collection of angry messages by the community in which they would complain about the new Rolling Sky Level not coming out and desperately asking for it. No rules were set so the submissions could be as offensive or as long and spammy as possible. The submissions for this wave were used in the main part of the video with the messages linking up with the music. Wave 1 had a total of around 220 submissions.

Wave 2 was another wave which came out after the long break from August 24th, 2020 and November 4th, 2021 (which then lasted until November 6th, 2021). The mission of this wave was the collection of profile pictures for a smaller part of the video where the Rolling Sky ball would ask the community who would like the new level to get released, resulting in the camera zooming out to review the huge audience of people who would want it. This wave had a total of around 180 submissions, although often multiple images were posted per message, increasing the actual submission number.

Inspiration

Please note that this section exists for the purposes of documentation, not promotion. Due to the role the Nazi Party played in history and the subsequent sensitive and offensive nature of this aesthetic, it is not recommended that you adopt it for yourself, Rolling Lounge Wiki does not endorse Nazi ideology.

L E V E L W A V E was inspired by Fashwave (a portmanteau of "fascism" and "wave") which is a derivative aesthetic of Synthwave or Vaporwave which is associated with alt-right/far-right/dissident right beliefs like upholding tradition, maintaining racial purity, Anti-Semitism, ultranationalism, and a rejection of post-modernist thought. While the far-right and controversial contents of this genre was seen as controversial and not right, the concept of a montage with a song playing with the -wave main genre was receptioned positively, hence making the inspiration for L E V E L W A V E .
