AZMindroma (formerly: AZ | Mindroma | Sticky, mostly called AZ) is a Rolling Lounge member from Germany. He joined during the server's very early stages and was the first official staff member. From 2021 to 2023, he was the de facto owner of Rolling Lounge. He has formally resigned from the staff team.

Name History

AZMindroma's online alias has an extensive development history that started in 2013.

AZ

The first part of the name, AZ, is an abbreviation of the word "Animationszentrale" (translating to "Animation Central" in German), a word AZ made up in 2017 when searching for a name for a new YouTube channel.

He chose this name due to his interest in creating and uploading animations on YouTube (more specifically, stickman animations using the Pivot Animator software) and his intention to create a channel that can be watched by people of all ages; the motivation behind this was that many stickman animations AZ watched in his childhood included content not suitable for children, most notably swears. His channel was therefore envisioned to be a "central" animation channel that could be watched by people of all ages.

AZMindroma formed the abbreviation "AZ" while designing the logo for the YouTube channel. He adopted it as his main online alias in late 2017/early 2018 because he got more involved in international communities where the name would be hardly understandable; before that, he was primarily around German communities.

Mindroma

The word "Mindroma" is not a word consisting of any other words in the English dictionary; it's a shortening of the made-up, but from the Andromeda Galaxy inspired word "Mindromeda." AZMindroma came up with this name on New Year's Eve 2017, when an image of fireworks taken by him gave him the impression of looking like a galaxy. Wanting to give this apparent galaxy a modification of the word "Andromeda," he created the name "Mindromeda". He shortened the word shortly after.

Sticky

AZMindroma first established the name in 2013 when he began to write his own comic books whose cast of characters were stickmen. He called the main character of the cast "Sticky (the Stickman)", who was partially also meant to be a personification of him. He initially used the alias online while renaming his YouTube channel to "Animationszentrale | Sticky".

AZMindroma removed this name component from his online alias in 2021.

Mooses

Mooses is a community meme that has been created and popularized by AZMindroma. He originally drew the moose drawing in August 2017, with him and a group of people making a cult of it in October 2017. After AZ joined the Rolling Lounge server, he posted an image of the moose while SHAvibe and he were talking, upon which SHAvibe asked whether he wanted to add it as an emoji. AZ agreed, so the moose emoji was added as of the first emojis ever added in the server.

Due to AZ's activity in the server and his role as a staff member, the meme was popularized in the community. Due to the sheer repetition of the phrase and the way the drawing looked, the other members also started talking about mooses; many fan arts were created as well. For a polemic explanation of the phenomenon, AZMindroma posted the following message on July 4, 2020:

[...] That "weird shaped white animal" is supposed to be a moose, that got really popular in this server. [...] but now you might ask: "Why did a bad artwork like that blow up?" and the reason why it blew up in popularity is exactly because the moose character is simplistic in design and is appealing. With its accentuated long nose, two sticklike antlers, dead eyes and idiotic expression, you just can't help but relate to the character. This causes a positive effect to the moose since people enjoy things they can relate with, it gives the person a good feeling knowing they're not alone. The character got introduced by a member called "AZ | Mindroma | Sticky" in early 2018, after a gain of the moderator role, the user kept posting that picture over and over from time and time, adding it as emoji and generally presenting it to many members. This lead to a drawing of several fan-made artworks later (you can check them out by typing in the commands !mooses and !mooses2) due to mooses being really really easy to draw. This made the meme ultimately strong because the fact that it was possible to gain more attention by drawing intentionally bad artwork than in a genuinely effortfull art attracted many people. The moose has been used in videos with over 100k views since then, has over 50 fanarts, and is still alive after around 3 years of existence. [...]

Rolling Lounge History

AZMindroma joined the server in the Creation Era (which was a predecessor of the Reflex Games Discord era) on January 13, 2018, 2 days after the server's creation. Upon joining, he was very active, which caused him to become the first Official Staff on the server, with his promotion happening on January 23, 2018, 10 days after his entrance to the server.

In the Reflex Games Discord era, AZMindroma had served as an Official Staff until May 6, 2018, when he was promoted to an Administrator, which was followed by a sudden leave from the server with the announcement of leaving the server for 6 years. This caused a drama in the server, with several people getting banned from the server because of the heating of said drama. That announcement, however, turned out to be a hoax, as AZMindroma joined the server just 6 days after leaving. The staff role wasn't granted back by the staff team, as they had noticed he had several personality traits that were unfitting for a staff member and general unsuitability as a staff member. However, his activity still continued as a normal member.

During this time, notable achievements and contributions by AZMindroma were the creation of the server's YouTube channel and the exposure of raiding organizations against the server. His presence as a staff member had also helped the server meme Mooses to form.

AZMindroma had remained unstaffed until the end of 2018/beginning of 2019, when he got the Jr. Staff role as a second chance to improve and act more mature, which he had passed, resulting in a promotion to Official Staff on February 23, 2019. About 2 months later, he regained the Admin role again. It was noticed by the server management that the staff had their different strengths, for which reason AZ was kept in the staff team, as he was thought to have a strength in communication, able to stay neutral in most situations to hear from two sides of a conflict. This had helped in several server conflicts (a notable conflict was the RSD-RGH argument), as he was able to act as someone both sides could talk to. For this reason, he was given the staff position "Head of Community Management."

At the beginning of the Rolling Lounge Era, AZ was not present in the server, returning in March 2020. He had kept his role as a Head of Community Management; however, this role's responsibility had increased at that time due to the other Community Managers being inactive or absent on the server. Despite a split in the staff team due to big recent conflicts, AZMindroma stayed neutral until a group of staff decided to plan an initiative led by AZMindroma to restore the staff team and the server's community. Due to the plan being flawed, however, this had resulted in damage to the server in the form of a server nuke before the Pre-Nuke era had ended.

Starting from the Post-Nuke segment of Rolling Lounge, AZMindroma had started to manage most of the server by himself due to the increasing busyness of the other staff members. Some things that he had added to the server were the Community Games (games not related to Rolling Sky but still relevant to the community), the L E V E L W A V E project, Project Amelioration, and the opening of the Rolling Lounge Network.

This lasted until 2023, when he left the server and his role as Server Manager.
