'''Hotel City''' (mostly called ''Hotel'' or ''Osaka & AZ Hotel'') is a settlement in MooseSMP Season 1. Originally founded by Osaka2 and [[AZMindroma]] as a response to griefing on [[Main Island]], the settlement has seen a big growth under the influence of newer players related to Osaka2. The name "Hotel" wasn't decided by either Osaka2 or AZMindroma, instead it got called this way by NotDarkSub and MikeJollie after the base was done because the house reminded them of a hotel due to the initial building's size.<ref>https://discord.com/channels/868449475323101224/868795014287872051/892551417729019955</ref><ref>https://discord.com/channels/868449475323101224/868795014287872051/902994362714189845</ref> Later, this was adapted by both players and the base's creators. Initially, the base was just called "Osaka & AZ Hotel" or simply "Hotel", but with the drastic growth in size, the name "Hotel City" was decided to be officially used.

==Geography==
Hotel City is located northwest of the server spawn at a plains biome west of a sea near the big ocean in which [[Main Island]] is in. It has expanded onto the east side of the sea and also on the mountains west of the city center.

The nearest settlements to the Hotel are [[Main Island]] and Builder's Land, being accessible through either boat rides or Nether Roof Transportation.

In the earlier days of the SMP, Main Island was the most active settlement in the server, mainly because there was still space to build on, and the accessibility and mobility of bases outside of MI was limited, although there were already players wishing to live outside of it. This was changed when on July 21st of 2021, a sabotage/grief was done on the island by 2 players with the help of another player. This sabotage included setting forests on fire, moving/changing/destroying blocks of houses and theft on storages. While the issues have been fixed by banning the players and adding a whitelist to prevent malicious people joining, this event resulted players to lose trust in living in Main Island, giving them the desire to settle at other places, combined with the space that was running out in there. 

A player called Osaka2 was also among them, searching for a new place to settle in. On July 25th of 2021, he was accompanied by AZMindroma to plan a base built together. The discussion was held in private in order to prevent any further sabotage attempts due to the distrustful atmosphere in the server at that moment. A location was searched and among a few potential candidates, an area at around -800 -400 was chosen as the best location due to a mountain being nearby. To plan the house properly before building in survival, a way of building in creative while still staying in the server was searched, resulting in the creation of the CMP (Creative Multiplayer). After the creation of the prototype in August 1st, construction started a few days prior to August 7th, in which the first building, the Hotel was finished.
